This review refers to the Model 2218.50, XL version (45 mm case) with steel bracelet. The opinions of the movement, adjustment and reliability are also applicable to the model with rubber strap and leather / lizard strap.

This is a hefty timepiece, it weighs 9+ ounces (over half a pound), it feels and exudes quality and is bound to illicit a glance and a double take. The domed double anti glare sapphire crystal is super sharp and sometimes hard to determine it is even there.

The exterior is a combination of brushed and polished stainless steel, most notably the trademark Omega horns are this blended finish.

The screw down crown is adorned with the Omega logo and easy to open, the first position enables manual winding for a power boost, the helium escape valve at 10:00 is adorned with the periodic symbol "He".

Clockwise turns of the crown in second position adjusts the date forward, the date can't be adjusted backwards. Time adjustment is easy and rapid; no adjustment for seconds is available.

The unidirectional bezel rotates counter clockwise 120 clicks and lines up perfectly with every second marker, the solid feel of the rotation is nothing less than you'd expect from an Omega.

The luminescent material of this watch is a glow magnet, just a few seconds exposure to sunlight or held close to a lamp will turn the face of this watch into a lighthouse! Combined with the chrome and split bezel hands of the subdials and this timepiece can be used as a signal mirror for low flying aircraft.

The Omega 3313 movement is identical to their 3303 movement except the 3313 has the co-axial escapement, this is the same movement inside the Omega DeVille and will be used in future models.

The accuracy of this watch is only surpassed by my Omega SeaMaster Quartz 300 2221.80, my Quartz Omega never loses or gains a second and the PO gains less than 5 seconds a week. The days I don't wear it, I spend 60 seconds winding it and store it standing vertically for optimum movement.

The bracelet includes the scuba extension of all SeaMasters, but has no convenience pins for rapid adjustment or for bodily weight fluctuation. It releases easily with the double release pins and feels confidently closed when clasped.

I've performed testing of the power reserve, it continues to function about 43 hours with a full wind.

The watch can also function with a running chronograph for over 40 hours on a full wind, that is impressive.

Overall, I'd recommend this watch for anyone who wants an exquisite sport timepiece which isn't out of place at a formal, like all of the Omegas made before it; I expect this watch to endure for my grandchildren and their grandchildren.

As expected from Amazon, the watch arrived on original Omega packaging, intact serial numbers and Amazon warranty card. It did not include any of the original omega cards. Given that I'm regular customer of Amazon and this was the lowest price I could find, I bought the watch in here. It was delivered as advertised. I'm very happy with the transaction.

This watch has the Seamaster written in red. It has applied metal Omega logo and symbol and metal encased dial markers. It has longer hands than the 2531.80 (watch it replaced). Internally this watch uses the improved coaxial caliber 2500. This watch is the same as the 2220.80 but without the steel bracelet.

Since Omega 2500 movement is thicker than the older 1120 caliber (found in 2531.80), this watch is thicker than the former bond watches. Even though the case has the same size, the difference in thickness comes from an extended caseback. Because of the increased height, this watch may not look as nice with Nato bands as older models did.

I love this watch and the only part of it I would change are the skeleton hands. These are not bad, but the hands of the black dial Seamater are outstanding.

The Omega Story
The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt began hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. The watch is great.
The UPs wa a nightmare I had to call them 5 times to get the item delivered correctly.
I have also just received to invoiced from UPS for a total of 150 eurs for postage. The postage was included when I ordered on the site.
I think that is a scandal.
The sender didn't fill out the warrenty card so for omega I do not have the 2 year warranty.

I recently purchased OMEGA James bond collection, Black Dial- Quartz from DUBAI. I can vouch for OMEGA'S built quality and moderate pricing, i.e. if one is comparing with Rolex Submariner. I am not a watch connoisseur myself, but certainly have an eye of attractive and quality watches, with an omega you can carry off with jeans, cargoes, swimming trunks,shorts, suits and what not.... There is no dearth of shopping malls in UAE and I always kept trying various watches to get the feel of them, before zeroing down to Omega. I am not here to take anything away from Rolex, but would like to add that Rolex being a strong brand, has overpriced their products. Rolex buyers certainly need deep pockets and reckon end up paying for brand Rolex rather then watch. Anyways these are my opinions. Omega's built quality of bracelet and watch case screams class, bracelet without being dull nor flashy is evenly poised for casual and formal wear. I personally prefer the Black Dial to the blue, BLACK CONTRAST stands out "PERIOD". Blue is always great but inclines more towards the casual look. Off course James Bond wore the blue, COZ he never had the black :) My father insisted that I pick up automatic instead of the quartz. Cost difference was one of the driving factor for me to pick up the quartz, also I am not into adjusting time regularly when the watch stops. I also feel It is a old school of thought and watch makers capitalize on sentiments that automatic watches are piece of art, yes they may be, but can the automatic guarantee precision timekeeping like their quartz counterparts, from what I have heard and read probably not. Plus why would I want to invest on mechanical watches, which can have unforeseen liabilities, especially considering the fact there are countless parts which keep the watch ticking. To conclude if you have something for watches and intend to spend moderate sum of money, then OMEGA is for you. One more word of advice, please ask the seller to bring the watch hands to 11.57 , i.e. few minutes away from when it strikes 12.00 and observe till the watch strikes 12.00 to see that the two hands are in line with the 12 .00 hr sign. i.e. exactly plum with the 12 hr sign. The reason is few watches might have unit specific errors (note: not referring to omega alone) and it is always better to check before you strike the deal.(Rolex and Automatic watch lovers no heart feelings pls) Each watch has a character of its own. Best of luck....

I own this watch for almost few months now. All I can say is this is a wonderful timepiece. The craftsmanship on this watch is excellent. You can dress up or dress down. Initially I was going to buy it from Amazon but I got 30% off from local AD so later on I decided to buy it from there. I decided to buy a quartz version because I did not feel like paying extra $1,000 for same watch. Overall very satisfied with the watch and highly recommended.

Bought in part because an uncle I admired and some of his friends on marking events in life pooled money and would buy a member a nice waterproof watch to celebrate the personal accomplishment. The Omega was often the watch of choice. Rarely something else - I assume the preferred watch of the prospective owner.

Realizing my friends don't share this background I finally decided to look, select and purchase one. My choice was the Omega Aqua Terra - black background. The glow in the dark is actually useful. Simple, classic appearance I think, clean lines. Thought it would be a dress watch but have found I wear it much more often than anything else. It is just a treat to notice at times, no sharp edges and the crystal remains unmarred in spite of a great deal of use. The clasp is sturdy and has not come loose until I decide to undo it.

One watch I hope to keep for a lifetime. Very happy with the overall quality and the weight is just enough to let me know it is there but not a burden. Should be noted my 14.00 Casio tells time just as well and has the bonus of an alarm and day of week feature. The Omega is something else- a nice way to recall a marking point in life.

I am not a large man and was looking for a watch that was not too bulky, had class but could also be worn with jeans. This watch really ties it all together. You can dress it up or down and has a face that is large enough to draw attention but not so big that steals the scene. The overall quality is incredible, this is my first Omega and I absolutely love it. The crystal is so clean and polished and the the finish on the metal meshes with just about anything you are wearing. Solid construction, I plan on having this watch a long time.

I love it just as much as my Breitlings, Rolex or Zenith watches. This combo is in my opinion the best one, the orange bezel is too much.

I just got this watch and I love it. The time piece is very distinctive and people will notice you are wearing a quality Swiss time piece just by the looks of it. This version offers a rubber strap but can be confused with leather by the look of it. The time piece is larger than most Omega wristwatches and you can feel the weight on your wrist when you are wearing it. Has helium escape valve function which must be used if you don't want the dome to shatter from the pressure of deep sea diving. The watch is rated to withstand 2000ft/600m.

I never went swimming or diving with this watch and don't really intend to. I wear this with my dress pants and dress shirt and it looks fantastic. I bought it more for looks than function. But know that it was created for diving.

Excellent in every way-BUT-you should consider the bracelet instead of the strap because it can be uncomfortable for most wrists.

This is an 45mm 8 oz timepiece w/o the strap or bracelet, it is tall since the domed caseback is more obtrusive than most Seasmasters because it has a second inner caseback that is also water resistant.

A clasped bracelet offers some arc of support and offloads some of the weight onto the lugs, but the straps are terribly ill suited for a watch this large no matter how soft and how much cushioning is inside.

The criticism over the strap and average size wrist is the watch will "float" loosely over or at least feel loose since it's weight will be felt whenever you try to wave your hand or raise it above your chest. If prolonged, it will begin to bang against the knobby bone in your wrist and bruise it miserably.

If the strap is worn snugly to prevent the floating effect of movement, the diminished circulation from a tight strap and 1/2 pound chuck of stainless steel is enough you to make your entire arm fall asleep.

If you have a large wrist that typically accompany's a big boned 6ft+ frame and worn 45mm+ or larger cases with comfort, then the strap may be perfect.

If this review has raised doubt or questions, it is worth visiting a reputable jeweler (authorized or not doesn't really matter if at this stage) and trying the strap for a few minutes, it will be apparent to you and the tendons in your knuckles if the strap can shoulder this watch comfortably on your wrist.

Avoiding a costly mistake is key since many owners have confided their straps are uncomfortable, but they can't bear to part with their PO and original Omega bracelets will cost a few hundred dollars leaving the owner to resell their lizard or rubber strap.

In my own experiences, I asked my jeweler if he could accept my strap for credit in trade for the bracelet and he complained that almost every strapped PO he sold in the first year was returned and he had a drawer of stretched, cracked and used straps from owners who couldn't tolerate the tendon and wrist pain.

Bear in mind, you aren't limited just to official Omega bracelets, the lugs are 24mm and double girded for two springbars each side, a strong note of caution, anything else other than an original Omega bracelet should at least be attached with the original Omega springbars included with your strap being replaced. This is often overlooked until the aftermarket bracelet and it's cheap pins become unhinged from the lug and the piece falls of your wrist while waving or putting and the worst when your arm is dangling out the window of a moving car !!!

There are too many instances where a half decent bracelet attached with the included and often cheap springbars are inadequate for a case this heavy and the owner has to determine whether to pull over the shoulder and risk pedestrian darwinism or eat an insurance claim.

The chronometer version weighs nearly 3oz less and a thinner case that actually offers some ergonomic countour and comfort. If your criteria is non negotiable and you have wear a 45mm chrono and strap instead of bracelet, it may be worth considering the titanium Seamaster, it is the same size, significantly lighter and has the same mechanical functions for slightly less cost. It is hard to pick a bad Omega and their titanium pieces are some of the finest compared to other titanium chronos.

This review refers to the Model 2218.50, XL version (45 mm case) with steel bracelet. The opinions of the movement, adjustment and reliability are also applicable to the model with rubber strap and leather / lizard strap.

This is a hefty timepiece, it weighs 9+ ounces (over half a pound), it feels and exudes quality and is bound to illicit a glance and a double take. The domed double anti glare sapphire crystal is super sharp and sometimes hard to determine it is even there.

The exterior is a combination of brushed and polished stainless steel, most notably the trademark Omega horns are this blended finish.

The screw down crown is adorned with the Omega logo and easy to open, the first position enables manual winding for a power boost, the helium escape valve at 10:00 is adorned with the periodic symbol "He".

Clockwise turns of the crown in second position adjusts the date forward, the date can't be adjusted backwards. Time adjustment is easy and rapid; no adjustment for seconds is available.

The unidirectional bezel rotates counter clockwise 120 clicks and lines up perfectly with every second marker, the solid feel of the rotation is nothing less than you'd expect from an Omega.

The luminescent material of this watch is a glow magnet, just a few seconds exposure to sunlight or held close to a lamp will turn the face of this watch into a lighthouse! Combined with the chrome and split bezel hands of the subdials and this timepiece can be used as a signal mirror for low flying aircraft.

The bracelet includes the scuba extension of all SeaMasters, but has no convenience pins for rapid adjustment or for bodily weight fluctuation. It releases easily with the double release pins and feels confidently closed when clasped.

I've performed testing of the power reserve, it continues to function about 43 hours with a full wind.

The watch can also function with a running chronograph for over 40 hours on a full wind, that is impressive.

This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical - NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality - a point often misunderstood - and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.

All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.

This is my fourth Swiss timepiece and it has to be said, my favourite. I have also owned an Ikepod, Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow and a Tag F1, the latter of which I still own as it is just such a fun watch.

I basically swapped my Broad Arrow (BA) for the Planet Ocean XL (PO XL) and I'm glad I did (the XL is the one to go for not the baby brother version). The BA is a fantastic watch but I started to find it just a little too dressy for my taste. The PO XL on the other hand is a fantastic, great looking, chunky sports watch which grabs peoples attention without being too flash. It can be worn as an everyday watch but it still has the class and will look great on that special occasion. The PO is beautifully made and a pleasure to wear. I looked at the Tags (Aquaracer and Link) Breitling (colt) and some others in the price range and they just didn't come close to this one in my opinion. I have had it 6 months now and timekeeping is spot on as you would expect. I tend to get bored with my watches and sell them on and replace them after a few years. But I can honestly say that I might just settle down with my Planet Ocean.

Initially I was a bit skeptical about buying such an expensive watch without a manufacturer's warranty. But knowing Amazon I went ahead as they are offering a 5 year warranty for this watch. Anyway I have no idea about how good their warranty really is and that could be the real deal breaker here.

The watch is by far one of the very best dive watches you can buy. Wear it on a jeans or a suit and it will never look out of place. It being a certified chronometer is well within its COSC specs of -4 to +6 seconds per day and I am loving it. it is also a very well made watch and a heavy one too. Buy it and trust me you will never regret it.

I've owned this watch for approximately 3 months now and I'm totally in love with it, for the past couple of years I've been wearing automatic watches as I've come to appreciate the fine craftsmanship in them. I had my eye on this omega for about a year now and I finally got around to buying it I must say definitely not your everyday purchase however one that I will never regret. This is my second Omega watch my first one is a James Bond 40 year anniversary Seamaster with the 007 logo in several locations.

This watch is completely exquisite in every single details, my purchase was not done thru amazon but one of the local omega boutiques where I live truly an experience.

I highly recommend this sport watch to anyone interested is not to dressy for my taste but it's great watch for the outdoors for dressy ocassions I keep my Bond special edition watch, but I've been considering getting a Omega DeVille hmm maybe later.

I just love OMEGA timepieces. Not only do they offer the best balance between cost and quality but they are beautifully designed, striking that perfect chord of understated sophistication and timid power. It is like going slow while driving a muscle car.

This PLANET OCEAN SEAMASTER is just gorgeous. The faceplate is easy to read under all conditions (the domed sapphire-crystal is double anti-glare and the tritium hands and numerals magnificently luminescent). The black-stainless steel-offwhite-orange theme is perfectly balanced and it will compliment most outfits.

My advice: buy the steel-band version and, at the same time, order the rubber strap (it is usually cheaper than ordering a steel band later on its own). You may need to visit your jeweler whenever you will decide to switch between the bands but for a small price you will essentially have two completely different-looking watches.

On a planet of water, in a desert of cities, under the canopy of the stars this is what should keep time.

Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality - a point often misunderstood - and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.

All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.

I ended up buying directly from watchmaxx.com. Received a brand new watch exactly as expected, with their warranty card in place of the factory warranty card. I haven't had a problem since I bought it almost a year ago. The watch runs within tolerance, about 5 seconds fast per day. I wear it a couple of days per week when I wind and reset the time. The watch has an awesome non-glare coating which at certain angles make it appear there is no crystal at all. With the black rubber strap, the watch goes best with black clothes. The rubber strap is extremely thick and robust. The underbelly of the watch (including strap) is beautifully inscripted. The watch is heavy and has an expensive look and feel to it. I love my Planet Ocean!

I am pleased with a look and quality of this watch. It could be worn with a suit or casual. It's classy without being flashy or loud. XL (2200.50.00) size looks good on people with wide wrists. I would say if you wear XXL or XL gloves than this watch will look just right. It's a quality automatic (self-winding) timepiece that with a proper care will last you and your kids' a lifetime. Co-axial movement (low friction thus more accurate), chronometer (tested and certified for precision by COSC) and 2000ft dive will give you plenty to swim around.

I was looking for an Omega with the co-axial movement. I got this one, and I'm glad I did. It is HUGE and HEAVY. not for small wrists or for people who don't want their watch to stand out and be noticed. The movement so far has kept better time them my auto TAG or Rolex datejust.

I am a watch collector, but this is my first Omega. It arrived today!! Until now, in the upper price department I have Rolex and Breitling and some others a little bit more middle range like Tissot, Certina, Hamilton and lots of japanese (also very good!!)...All are beautiful timepieces but also watches you can wear with a suit and tie (the size of this Omega is perfect) or with jogging pants...This Omega is a great sports watch but also a great dress watch..I don't like those watches with a lot of complications and so expensive that if you have the money you'd rather buy a Lexus!!
This Omega is beautiful and useful, but the main thing is that you have a quality watch...

This Omega mid-sized Seamaster looks and runs great I've had it about a week now so it's still in the break-in period but is running only about 1 sec.a day fast well within the C.O.S.C chronometer standard (+6/-4 sec.per day).I was worried about the size of the case as I have large hands but it look very nice on me and I wanted more of a dress style as opposed to a Dive watch in which case the larger cased Omega's might be the way to go the bracelet fit with no adjustments so if you have smaller wrists you may need to remove the half or full link to fit correctly . On the blue dial it's amazing and I'm glad I choose it over the black dial on a final note I purchased mine from Jomashop and was very pleased with the shipping time and packing also if you go to there website and sign up for there newsletter they will send you a coupon which gave me another $20.00 off the selling price.At least they did to me just give it time to arrive. (Footnote) Oct,10 2009 a little side note I have had problems with the bracelet it keeps popping open if I have to flex my wrist this is a first for me I've never had this problem on other brands of watches before I contacted Jomashop and they said the warranty only covers the movement nothing else it's my Bad luck to get a Faulty product and they won't fix or even try to repair it so think about this when you are looking for a merchant to purchase from.

as with any authentic omegas, this one is great. the case is 36.2mm diameter. about 11mm thick. 18mm band width. i have narrow wrists (6.25in.) and this watch fits me perfectly. 39-43mm diameter is the standard for most guys. 4 hertz (28,800 vpm) frequency and forgot how many jewels. i believe the glass has anti-reflective coating only on one side. you should also look at the james bond version of this watch. it has the new co-axial escapement with different cosmetics. it also costs $500 more. i'm very happy with this one though.

i bought this watch from amazon.com. came in pristine condition with original omega box, instruction manual, and certificates of authenticity. the "red dot" (mark that shows the watch hasn't been opened) is intact.

the quality of new authentic omega watches don't really need discussions. they're absolutely great. the question is the sellers, especially when buying online. i've read too many bad incidents about online purchases on such expensive items. if you receive any questionable item with signs of use, missing certificates, etc, you should simply return it.

If you are like me, then you enjoy researching big ticket items as much as the purchase. I can't say that it eliminates buyer's regret but the hangover doesn't last nearly as long. I purchased the Omega Planet Ocean 6 months ago with some trepidation because of the price and a bad experience that I once had with a Rolex. I was concerned about the price because it cost considerably more than the Omega Seamaster. The Seamaster is also a diver's watch and has a proven track record. In fact, the watch that James Bond* wore in Casino Royale was a special edition quartz Seamaster. In this review, I will attempt to answer the following questions:

Is it worth paying more money for a Planet Ocean, than for it's predecessor, the Seamaster?

How does the Planet Ocean stack up to more expensive competitor, Rolex Sea Dweller?

*Note: James Bond wore the Planet Ocean in a Quantum of Solace.

While conducting this review, I'll also try to educate the novice on the basic components of a watch: bezel, movement, band, crystal, case, and the face (dial, marker, hands). Without understanding each of these components, you cannot accurately compare watches. Of course, there are other factors as well as intangibles to be taken into consideration (warranty, prestige, price, etc.).

1. The crystal is the transparent cover that allows one to view the time while protecting the face of the watch from damage. The difference in quality and price varies according to the scratch resistance (hardness) of the crystal and the anti-reflective coating that have become standard on high end diver's watches. Any watch costing more than $150 will generally have one of three crystals: Mineral, Sapphire, and Ceramic. All Rolex and Omega watches come with Sapphire or Ceramic. Ceramic (yttrium-stabilized zirconia) is the newest and most technologically advanced material. For the sake of concision, the minor advantages of a ceramic bezel aren't worth the premium price at this time.

The Planet Ocean and all of the competing diving watches in this class come with sapphire crystal. Sapphire crystal is aptly named because it's literally a lab produced corundum. For those of you who are not gemologists, sapphires and rubies are fancy names for red and blue corundum! Corundum has a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale (diamond = 10). Ergo, nothing below 9 on the Mohs hardness scale should easily scratch it. I'm very hard on watches but still haven't managed to scratch the P.O.'s sapphire crystal. The harder a substance, the more brittle it is, therefore, you're be just as likely to shatter a sapphire crystal than scratch it. If the crystal is raised (i.e. Sea Dweller), the exposed edge is also susceptible to being chipped. Fortunately, this is not a problem with the Planet Ocean since the sapphire crystal sits flush with the stainless steel bezel (replaceable).

Besides the way the sapphire crystals are mounted, the chief differences between diving watches involve the anti-reflective coating, or lack thereof. The Omega Seamaster and the Rolex Sea Dweller both put the anti-reflective coating on the inside of the crystal while the Planet Ocean has translucent blue tinted anti-reflective coating on both the outside and inside of the crystal. Note: You can only see the 'blue tint' by tilting the watch at an angle. Before purchasing this watch, I read an amateur review from a Sea Dweller owner who stated that Omega made a mistake because the exterior anti-reflective coating leaves noticeable marks when scratched. I've found that criticism to be highly exaggerated. In fact, I wear this watch daily and have put some scratches on the band but cannot find any marks on the coating. If you are actually going to use this watch for it's intended purpose (scuba diving), then you will absolutely want to have this exterior coating because it works much better than the interior coating alone! IMHO, I love the crystal's signature bluish hue because it's the simplest way to distinguish an authentic P.O. from a cheap forgery.

2. Movement is the 'motor' of the watch that keeps the time, date, etc. Each separate mechanical function of a watch is called a 'complication'. With premium watches, you generally have three choices when it comes to movement: Quartz, winding, and automatic. Quartz watches are more accurate and less expensive, but require batteries. Question: Why would anyone with half a brain want an automatic watch then? Answer: Multiple reasons! While automatic and winding movements are less practical and generally require more maintenance over the long haul, the difference is the artistry, ingenuity, and elegance of a mechanical movement. This is where the Omega Planet Ocean surpasses virtually every other watch out there including the Rolex Sea Dweller. The Caliber 2500 movement is based on an ETA 2892-2 (ETA is owned by the same company, Swatch group that owns Omega). Several innovations make this 27 jewel movement extraordinary. Due to the 'Co-Axial Displacement' the self winding (automatic) movement has managed to substantially reduce friction, thus requires much less lubrication than any other automatic movements manufactured today! What that means to you, my friend is that your new Planet Ocean watch will not require expensive servicing for 10 YEARS! FYI, that's twice as long as any Rolex. The drastically reduced friction within the movement also doubles the lifespan of the watch! Additionally, Caliber 2500 movement has been equipped with a 'free sprung balance' that's a 'state of the art' simplified regulating system which greatly improves the COSC timing precision. In other words, this watch keeps exceptionally accurate time for a mechanical watch. In my experience, this watch has kept almost perfect time +/- 1 second a day and under 2 seconds a week. FYI: All mechanical watches tend to run fast by a few seconds per week during the first 6 to 18 months because of the initial factory lubrication. As the lubrication thins and spreads, high end mechanical watches generally become more accurate. Since the P.O. doesn't need as much lubrication, the accuracy out of the box is amazing. It's the only mechanical watch that I've owned that's lived up to it's billing when it comes to keeping time.

3. Case: The Omega Planet Ocean's case is beautiful, rugged, and well designed with twice the water resistance rating of the Seamaster at 600m/1200ft. While that's half of the water resistance of the Rolex Sea Dweller, it's a moot point since the diving depth record with a breathing apparatus is only 313m! To give you a reference point, the most advanced atomic submarine (US Sea Wolf class) has a maximum diving depth of 500 meters. Omega invented the helium release value that made watches better suited for longer deeper dives. Without it, the pressure change upon returning to the surface would pop out the crystal. On the Planet Ocean, the release value is manual and looks like another winding clasp but is inscribed 'He' (the scientific symbol for helium). FYI- the safety value doesn't need to be deployed for normal swimming and diving.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the beautiful depiction of the Omega sea monster [hippokampoi] is on the case back. Not only is it attractive, but it's the easiest way to determine if the watch is a genuine Planet Ocean. While counterfeit watches don't seem to have trouble imitating the Rolex green hologram sticker, I've searched the internet and have never seen a convincing forgery of the Omega sea monster on the back case. If you don't believe me, then go to the fake watch sites on the internet and do a comparison. The counterfeiters know that most people who purchase counterfeit watches are only interested in fooling passive onlookers.

4. On the Planet Ocean, the bezel is the black or orange 'coin edged' unidirectional rotating stainless steel ring that surrounds the crystal. The Omega Planet Ocean's 'easy grip' bezel has 120 clicks (stopping points) stopping precisely on the markers. FYI: If you are diving with this watch, then the bezel is one of the most important features. For others who simply enjoy the styling and durability of a diving watch, the bezel provides a quick way to determine the quality, precision, and attention to detail that was put into the watch.

5. The band is the least important feature of a watch as far as I'm concerned. The band can be changed and will probably be replaced long before the watch dies of natural causes. Nevertheless, an expensive watch should come with a solid clasped high grade stainless steel, gold, or titanium band (I abhor leather and plastic). The Omega Planet Ocean's band is first rate. I found the it to be very comfortable and secure with no sharp edges. The clasping mechanism works flawlessly. Being that it is a diving watch, the clasp has a clever mechanism that painlessly extends the band to allow it to fit over a diving suit (or jacket sleeve). Fortunately, the band is brushed stainless steel so it doesn't show scratches like the polished case.

6. Face (dial, marker, hands)- The Planet Ocean's hands and makers are coated with Superluminova resin. That means that when you turn out the lights, you do not have trouble making out the time for 30 minutes or so. The arrow tipped hands distinguish the Planet Ocean from the Sea Master and the Ocean Dweller. Another cool feature is that you can distinguish the hands from one another even at 12:00! The date does not require magnification. I've always felt that magnified dates aka cyclops interferes with the elegance of a watch. While this is a matter of personal preference, many people must agree since Rolex does not include the cyclops on the Sea Dweller.

Finally, I must mention the size. The Planet Ocean is a relatively big watch at 45.5mm and weighs 9oz. I like bigger watches but it's a matter of taste. I'm a large man (6'3" 210lbs) so it fits me proportionally. For someone with a smaller frame or thinner wrists, Omega makes a slightly diminutive version (42mm) of the standard PO. Whichever version you choose, the Plane Ocean will never be mistaken for a lady's watch!

CONCLUSION: While the PO does cost more than the Seamaster, I believe that it's well worth the extra price because of the improved movement and styling. You are also paying $5000 less than the Sea Dweller. I love my Planet Ocean and highly recommend it.

I have owned this watch for a year and a half now and it is my favourite watch in my stable. I opted for the brown leather strap, which dresses it up a bit. It keeps great time ( it sits in a watch winder when not being used.) It is a far classier option than a Rolex, in my opinion.

I am rather opinionated when it comes to luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying directly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. Watches, especially mid to high grade swiss watches, are a passion of mine. I am not loyal to a brand or a style or anything else. I judge them for what they are, in terms of quality, function, construction, and style. A watchmakers point of view.

This said I will tell you that this particular watch is what I consider to be a "best kept secret" sort of watch. This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical - NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality - a point often misunderstood - and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.

All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.

This review refers to the Model 2218.50, XL version (45 mm case) with steel bracelet. The opinions of the movement, adjustment and reliability are also applicable to the model with rubber strap and leather / lizard strap.

This is a hefty timepiece, it weighs 9+ ounces (over half a pound), it feels and exudes quality and is bound to illicit a glance and a double take. The domed double anti glare sapphire crystal is super sharp and sometimes hard to determine it is even there.

The exterior is a combination of brushed and polished stainless steel, most notably the trademark Omega horns are this blended finish.

The screw down crown is adorned with the Omega logo and easy to open, the first position enables manual winding for a power boost, the helium escape valve at 10:00 is adorned with the periodic symbol "He".

Clockwise turns of the crown in second position adjusts the date forward, the date can't be adjusted backwards. Time adjustment is easy and rapid; no adjustment for seconds is available.

The unidirectional bezel rotates counter clockwise 120 clicks and lines up perfectly with every second marker, the solid feel of the rotation is nothing less than you'd expect from an Omega.

The luminescent material of this watch is a glow magnet, just a few seconds exposure to sunlight or held close to a lamp will turn the face of this watch into a lighthouse! Combined with the chrome and split bezel hands of the subdials and this timepiece can be used as a signal mirror for low flying aircraft.

The Omega 3313 movement is identical to their 3303 movement except the 3313 has the co-axial escapement, this is the same movement inside the Omega DeVille and will be used in future models.

The accuracy of this watch is only surpassed by my Omega SeaMaster Quartz 300 2221.80, my Quartz Omega never loses or gains a second and the PO gains less than 5 seconds a week. The days I don't wear it, I spend 60 seconds winding it and store it standing vertically for optimum movement.

The bracelet includes the scuba extension of all SeaMasters, but has no convenience pins for rapid adjustment or for bodily weight fluctuation. It releases easily with the double release pins and feels confidently closed when clasped.

I've performed testing of the power reserve, it continues to function about 43 hours with a full wind.

The watch can also function with a running chronograph for over 40 hours on a full wind, that is impressive.

Overall, I'd recommend this watch for anyone who wants an exquisite sport timepiece which isn't out of place at a formal, like all of the Omegas made before it; I expect this watch to endure for my grandchildren and their grandchildren.

I'm not an expert on watches, I'm just a normal guy who works outdoors in the wilderness in Northern Ontario, Canada. I was given this watch by my dad as a gift over a year ago.

The first thing about the watch that caught my attention is the size, the face and band are big. It's heavy too. Originally, I intended to only wear the watch on special occasions, since it costs more than a year's worth of rent for me, but I figured that the watch is supposed to be designed to withstand up to 600m/2000ft of water pressure, so it should be able to withstand the Canadian elements and it would be a waste to leave it sitting in my desk. I'm happy to say that I have worn this watch everyday for over a year now and aside from scratches on the band, it runs perfectly. Last summer I worked as a fire ranger and even that job couldn't wreck this watch.

The back of the watch also has a very intricate and stylish engraving of a seahorse that seems to impress people when to ask to see the watch. The second hand moves very smoothly, it does not tick pause tick like most watches. The hands and hour markings glow in the dark very brightly compared to other watches I have owned (swiss army victorinox) If you want a watch that you don't have to worry about then I recommend this watch. I do suggest that you go to a store and try one on first before buying, it's a large and bulky watch, it would look funny on someone with thin wrists and scrawny arms.

Make sure to get the one with non-red markers, James Bond wears the version with all white markers. James Bond also wears the XL version (45.5mm case) And obviously, he doesn't wear the one with the orange bezel (yeeech). There are two versions of this watch coming out just like for the last James Bond watch. But seriously, do you think James Bond would wear a watch that says "Quantum of Solace" or "007" engraved in back of his watch? Seriously. Do yourself a favor and get NOT get the limited edition, but the regular model. But I guess people buy for different reasons.

Having said that, this is a great, practical watch for everyday wear if you want to look cool with a touch of class. I would not wear this for sports or to the gym because I like to keep my watches in near mint condition. The price is not awfully expensive as a Rolex but works possibly even better and looks just as great as a Rolex. I'm very suprised how much the Omega Seamaster is beginning to look more and more like a Rolex Submariner. The last Seamaster is quite distintive in that it's Bond version has a blue face with a nice geometrically carved bezel and intricate bracelet band (but not to everyone's tastes). Now, for the Planet Ocean, we see the famous fluted bezel that is signature of Rolex. We see the Bond version is all black a la Bond Rolex Submariner. And gone also is the intricate-looking band which now looks very much like the Rolex Oyster bracelet with just a slightly different line of design. There are some differences. The PO case is quite elegant and very reminiscent of car body design. However, the side profile of the case still lacks the elegance of Rolex. Another obvious difference is the size. The Rolex Submariner is 40mm which is perfect for any wrist. Last Seamster Professional was 41mm which is still perfect. This watch? A whopping 45.5mm!!! It's huge. Make sure you are fine with the size. With a large diametered case also comes the added weight! I love the nice heft but this may not be suitable for everyone. Although many of these differences are quite subjective, what is pretty much objective is the clasp of these watches. Time and time again, people complain why the most famous all watches come with a flimsy, cheap clasp? Omega Seamaster clasp totally blows it away as it is very solid and quite easy to operate.

So now we have an Omega that looks and feels much like a Rolex. Omega is like the Lexus of watches. It does a lot of things great and maybe even better but it will always be second status to Rolex a la Lexus to Mercedes. No matter how hard Lexus tries to be a Mercedes, it will always be a Lexus. With that said, both Lexus and Omega make solid, quality products with a more affordable price tag. Give this, I would wear an Omega practicially everyday and just leave the special occasions for my Rolex Submariner. However if you are really particular on wanting the very best, you may want to be a bit more patient in saving for that Rolex. I gave so many reasons to buy this watch but the only reason to buy a Rolex is because it's a Rolex!

James Bond is Back in Casino Royale, February 24, 2007

This 2006 edition of the famous James Bond watch made its debut in the movie Casino Royale. Actually, there are two Omega watches in the movie; the limited edition Omega Seamaster Plant Ocean Big Size 2907.50.91 and the limited edition Omega Seamaster Chronometer 2226.80.00. The watch offered here carries on the James Bond style without the limited edition price tag.

This style of the James Bond watch first appeared in the movie 'Golden Eye' (1995) and is still available as the full size gents model 2531.80.00. The new 2006 model 2220.80.00 has several refinements that you should consider over the previous (but still available) model. Most notably, the automatic movement now has the newly designed Co-Axial escapement. The Co-Axial Technology reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement in the previous model and ensures greater accuracy over time. More importantly, it doesn't require servicing for 10 years versus 2-3 years in the previous model. Servicing a luxury watch like Omega can be expensive. Bear in mind that any Omega watch purchased on the internet voids the International Warranty, so read the seller's warranty terms carefully. This watch is also available in a quartz version as model 2221.80.00.

The other big change is the appearance of the watch face. The blue wave dial is a deeper shade blue with a more distinctive wave pattern and the Seamaster script is a subtle red. More apparent is the hour markings are now encased in stainless steel mountings instead of painted on as in the previous model. This alone cleans up the watch face and makes it look like it costs thousands more.

If you desire a James Bond series watch with a true Swiss movement, this is the one.

Fantastic Omega Watch From Amazon!!, August 1, 2009

Well, I guess I was supposed to have this watch. I had always wanted a Seamaster Cronometer Automatic, but never saw myself spending this kind of money, not to mention the price at an authorized dealer. Amazon sent me an email a week or so ago that had special 12 months no interest on select watches. I looked and looked and finally pulled the trigger on this fantastic blue face large size automatic. Actually, I ordered on July 31, 2009 and for $6.99 extra with Amazon Prime had it at my door before 10:00 a.m. this morning. It's a good thing I took advantage of the offer, because as of today, the "12 months" offer is no more and the price has actually gone up!

I had somewhat of a concern by ordering a "gray market" watch, but I had ordered a Luminox ETA automatic from Amazon about 4 or 5 years ago and had good luck with it and also saved about $200.00.

I read all of the reviews here on Amazon and even went to watch forums such as [...] and read reviews. The folks on timezone appear to only purchase through authorized dealers. Fortunately by going to a forum I learned about some very important things surrounding the watch such as serial numbers and a little "red dot" that Omega applies to watches out of the factory. I had concerns about this and thought that if I saw anything suspicious that I could just return the watch to Amazon. Man was I happy after inspecting it! Sure enough, all of the serial numbers were there from the multiple cards that come with the watch to the little "medallions" that are tied to the watch upon opening. The watch itself has the laser engraved serial number in the appropriate place also. I had heard that some "gray market" watches do not come with everything, from what I have seen, my purchase from Amazon did. I realize that it can only be covered under warranty through Amazon, but by saving hundreds if not close to a "grand" that's fine with me.

Now to that little "red dot". Sure enough it is there and it acts as a tiny little "bridge" between the case and the screwed on case back. It tells you if anyone has opened the case since it came from the factory as the little dot will break upon opening the case. I guess if someone really wanted to take the time they could "paint" it back on, but it would be difficult as I'm not sure it's exactly paint.

This is the new "007" watch with the Co-Axial movement in it and it is super quiet! If I didn't know that it was an auto, I'd think it was a quartz. You can't feel it moving around either on your wrist.

The fit and finish of the watch is second to none. I'm really not sure why Rolex charges as much as they do, the Omega seems like a bargain actually, even though it's still an expensive watch. So far, as I write this review at 4:31 p.m., it seems to be keeping fine time. I'll have to wait and see how it is tomorrow. When I received my Luminox I had to take it and have it calibrated as it was way too fast upon arrival, it keeps perfect time now. I'm hoping that this Omega Chronometer will not need adjusting. You'd think since it is a "certified chronometer" that you would not need it, but I've read of several people having to have theirs adjusted, even folks that bought from authorized dealers.

I can see why this model is so popular, it's just a really fine time piece. Those luminous hands and hour markers as just as stated, they glow bright and for a long time!

I know that some say that they would NEVER buy "gray market", but I've always had excellent service with Amazon and since I had no issues with my first watch from them, I'm sure glad I took advantage of their offer and purchased this fine time piece! All in all, for the savings it was worth it and I'll continue to purchase my time pieces from Amazon.

Hope this review helps anyone with reservations about purchasing an expensive time piece from Amazon.

Merry Christmas all. Just wanted to give a short update on my SMP 300. As You can see, I purchased this watch back in August. This has to be one of the finest watches that I have ever purchased hands down! It keeps perfect time. I can set it to an atomic clock and it will still be within 1 second 72hrs later. Amazing. Again, by purchasing mine through Amazon, it came with all of the cards, boxes, matching serial numbers, red dot on caseback in tact, everything!

UPDATE 10/24/2010 - This still has got to be one of THE best purchases I have ever made! This watch is just truly fantastic. I have had zero problems with it and it just keeps fantastic time. It's amazing that a mechanical watch can keep this good of time. The watch is just plain solid and wears extremely well. I wear this thing everyday to work and to work out in the yard in and it still looks brand new. If you've been contemplating this watch and Amazon is offering it directly, then you will not be sorry if you purchase it. I stress though, I would only feel comfortable purchasing it though if Amazon were the merchant and not a 3rd party. I realize that there are fine and honest 3rd party vendors, but with Amazon, you know that they will take care of you. It also comes with all cards, papers and such from Amazon. I love this watch!

I actually own this specific watch (#2220.80.00) and is my 2nd Omega (have five year old Speedmaster). It is a beautiful watch and like other Omegas you get comments on it. If you have not owned an Omega then you will be impressed by the feel and quality of the watch. For these kind of watches it doesn't feel heavy at all but a comfortable feel to it when wearing. Accuracy? Let's face it, a cheap $20 quartz is more accurate but it is rated a chronometer (don't confuse the term chronograph with lots of dials) and I gain 2 seconds a day. This is good because it is easy to update but stopping the clock a few seconds a day and watches tend to slow until the next cleaning. The Co-Axial feature is not a gimick (look at the Omega site for an animation on how this works) and results in the watch being certified a chronometer. Compared to my older non-coaxial Speedmaster (new ones have coaxial) here are my observations:
*With my older automatic you could feel the automatic movement as it spun around when wearing it. The Seamaster doesn't have that moment and is quiet. When listening to it much more pleasant than the Speedmaster but I know most would say who cares.
*With my older automatic when you did rewind it it would offer a lot of resistance and almost cut into your thumb. The new one offers just a little resistance but rewinds the watch. You could wind it all day without getting callouses.

As for as warrenty: Others have pointed out that you lose one year of warrenty if you buy it through Amazon. I also think you may not get the card that certifies it is a chronometer which may be important for some and not for others. I bought it through the Navy exchange military store but of course not an option for some. The advantage is that the military is a certified Omega seller.

Only negative (maybe not for some): The watch dial is really more black than blue as shown in the picture...looks more like black wave not blue wave. OK, maybe it is a dark Navy blue. Still not a deal breaker for this watch. Good value for the price. I've found I didn't really need all the "bells and whistles" of my chronogragh Speedmaster. If you need reading glasses nice to have big broad dials such as this watch which is easy to read.

The four true luxury watch companies (in my limited, but somewhat informed opinion) are Breitling, Cartier, Rolex and Omega. If you want a true luxury watch, buy a Omega! The 2220.80.00 is commonly known as the "Bond Watch" (as seen in the past four 007 movies). This Seamaster 300m Co-Axial Chonometer is a great luxury watch, stylish and manly. Be careful to learn about Authorized Dealers vs. "Grey Market" watches. ALL Omegas sold online are "Grey Market" since Omega does not allow internet sales, hence your warranty will probably not be honored by Omega directly but by some watch company (beware!). Want to learn more about luxury watches check out Timezone.com before buying to make sure you get the right watch. I got the watch for my 40th Birthday (Thanks Steve!) and I love it!

I am rather opinionated when it comes to luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying directly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. Watches, especially mid to high grade swiss watches, are a passion of mine. I am not loyal to a brand or a style or anything else. I judge them for what they are, in terms of quality, function, construction, and style. A watchmakers point of view.

This said I will tell you that this particular watch is what I consider to be a "best kept secret" sort of watch. This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical - NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality - a point often misunderstood - and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.

All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.

This is a fantastic watch. Beautiful, great build quality - subtle & understated luxury. Not gaudy or flashing like some of the other luxury watches. The watch fits my wrist well. I really like the push button style clasp. I was very apprehensive about buying this watch from Amazon, but decided to give it a try due to all the positive customer feedbacks. I'm so happy that I did. I saved a bundle. The watch arrived the next day - all documentation was there - including the Omega certificate. I took the watch to my local watch shop and had the bracelet adjusted. Cost $15. All in all, I am very happy with this watch and with the Amazon buying experience.

Update (Feb. 2010 - It's been over a year now and I still love this watch. I am very impressed by the accuracy - I'm getting about -1 second per day. Not bad for an automatic. After a year of daily wearing in all sorts of situation - swimming in the ocean, doing yard work, computer work, etc - not a single scratch on the crystal. However, the watch band (bracelet) and bezel are prone to scratches. I wish the bezel has a coin edge like that of the Rolex'es. The scalloped edge is hard to turn.

I have had mine for over ten years. I woodwork, garden, sail, swim,etc. Only take it off for showers, don't like soap scum, the crystal looks new. I have hit it hard enough that I was afraid to look at my watch, not a scratch. Never been in the shop. Very fine piece of equipment.

This 2006 edition of the famous James Bond watch made its debut in the movie Casino Royale. Actually, there are two Omega watches in the movie; the limited edition Omega Seamaster Plant Ocean Big Size 2907.50.91 and the limited edition Omega Seamaster Chronometer 2226.80.00. The watch offered here carries on the James Bond style without the limited edition price tag.

This style of the James Bond watch first appeared in the movie 'Golden Eye' (1995) and is still available as the full size gents automatic chronometer model 2531.80.00 and the same in a quartz model 2541.80.00. The new 2006 quartz model 2221.80.00 has several refinements that you should consider over the previous (but still available) model. Most notably is the appearance of the watch face. The blue wave dial is a deeper shade blue with a more distinctive wave pattern and the Seamaster script is a subtle red. More apparent is the hour markings are now encased in stainless steel mountings instead of painted on as in the previous model. This alone cleans up the watch face and makes it look like it costs thousands more.

Bear in mind that any Omega watch purchased on the internet voids the International Warranty, so read the seller's warranty terms carefully. This watch is also available in an automatic chronometer with the new Co-Axial escapement movement as model 2220.80.00.

If you desire a James Bond series watch at an affordable price, this is the one.

Like the title says, a true piece of art trumps price, every time. This watch is the perfect mate of beauty, class, craftsmanship and usefulness.
The watch immedietly stands out a quality time piece to even the most casual of observer. It sets itself apart from minor details; details that speak of expierence, care and attention to quality.

I cannot give an honest pro/con list of the watch's qualities at this time because I haven't owned it long enough. This review is my initial impressions. Although I conducted an immense amount of research before purchasing this particular model, and from the reviews, personal testimonials and widely-available resources, this watch is as sturdy and reliable as it is beautiful.

Details: This watch is like any fine jewlery product. From the images posted on Amazon you cannot get a feel for how this watch feels and looks in person. All metal parts are either finely brushed or beautifully polished. This watch stands apart from every lower-end watch in the spectrum. All the laser etchings are crisp and clear and fonts are classic and clean. It is the small details such as the font, exact mechanical tolerances and minor touches of class that make this watch the fine piece that it is.

The root purpose of this review is not to brag about the watch though, there are plenty of people that do that already. The point I want to clarify is that customers shopping from Amazon can do so without hesitation. Amazon IS NOT, an official Authorized Dealer (AD). Therefore, the Omega warranty is void! If you are looking for a watch from an AD that will cover the full Omega warranty - DO NOT order the watch from Amazon. Although, I will say this: Amazon does provide a comprehensive and detailed warranty and support network for customers. If your not concerned about the Omega International Warranty, then you can purchase this watch without concern. Amazon provides the official hang tags, outter box, inner red leather box, instruction manual, official and authentic pictogram and International Warranty card (which is not endorsed by an Omega AD so therefore the Omega warranty is no good). I felt completely comfortable purchasing this watch from Amazon despite not having the Omega support available. When I purchased the watch on June 14th, my only concern was the shipping and condition upon delivery. When I recieved the watch a mere five days later (shipped on the 15th, arrived on the 19th overseas to an APO address), there was no damage to the product or the packaging whatsoever. In fact, I was surprised and pleased at how quickly the watch arrived.

To keep this as short as prudent, I won't get into the details of Quartz vs. Automatic but if you have questions or want more details, you can search online where there is a plethora of information or contact me and I will be happy to explain it. But suffice to say, I was very happy with the quartz watch.

Bottom line: If you an Amazon customer wishing to purchase this watch and your NOT concerned with having the Omega Warranty, go for it, dive in and enjoy every wonderful detail this instrument provides. If your a collector and stickler for having the warranty then I suggest moving on to your local jeweler or AD.

I have several High dollar Rolex divers and I love them all but for everyday abuse and accuracy the Seamaster Professional 300 QUARTZ wins hands down. Its one of the few divers watch that is'nt a Rolex Submariner knock off. The Omega stays true to its own design and does not borrow the Rolex look in any way. This is important to me because I already own a Rolex Submariner. The Omega Seamaster design holds its own in a crowd of diver watches and is never confused with anything else other than a OMEGA SEAMASTER.
I absolutely love this watch for several reasons. 1st its build quality is perfect and its fit and finish is top notch. The accuracy is excellent. My watch is + or - 0 seconds in 30 days. Outstanding!! The Omega Seamaster 300 quartz movement is Omegas toughest Diving watch and can withstand 5000g's of shock. No wonder it was THE original James Bond choice in GoldenEye.

Omega quarts movement are very high quality and doesnt take a back seat to its automatic brother at all. Both have their selling points. Both are desirable for the same and different reasons.

Why you should buy a Omega Seamaster quartz:
Not all quartz movements are the same just like not all automatic movements are the same. Omega quarts is a very high quality robust movement. There is no reason this quartz movement cant last 3 lifetimes or be handed down as a family heirloom. Maintenance is also a lot cheaper than its automatic brother and less fussy all around.
The 5 link bracelet on the Bond models are a masterpiece of design and comfort. Omegas best bracelet ever.
Omegas quartz movement can be serviced 30-40 years down the road just as easy as keeping a automatic going for the same amount of time. The only difference is it will still be cheaper to service in the end.

A true Professional diving watch.

I second that. This watch is an absolute beauty. I got the Quartz version myself, purely because I'm an accuracy nut but I can see why people would want an automatic version. This watch screams class, but not in an overt way like a Tag (held in smaller esteem by watch connoisseurs) might. It's nicely heavy, and its refined workmanship makes you realise what a joyous piece of jewellery you're wearing. This is my first step into "expensive" watches, and I am more than happy with the choice I made.

If you're thinking of buying this watch, and like me, have scoured the net endlessly in search of reviews and pictures, then just take the plunge and buy it. This watch looks 100 times better than any picture out there, official ones included.

I have this watch for 3 years now. It has excellent built quality and is highly accurate. My watch drift less than 15 seconds a year. The power reserve is mentioned to be 36 months but the battery lasted longer. However I changed the battery after 37 months just to be on the safe side. The battery change and water pressure check cost me singapore dollars SGD$30.00 (done at Swatch SEA service centre). I wear it almost daily and scratches are evident on the bezel and the bracelet. I left it at that as it look more personalized.

This is the "James Bond" seamaster watch with quartz movement; very happy with it, fine craftsmanship as you would expect from Omega; not too heavy, just the right solid touch for me. At first I was a little wary about purchasing a top branded watch online but faith in the Amazon reputation made me decide to proceed (actually reseller Perfect Timing supplied it) and it's been a great buy with a hefty discount to boot compared to the mall stores. Just to be sure, I brought it to the local Omega service shop and it's been certified genuine and the real thing. Wearing this watch always makes me feel good whether in formal, informal or sports settings and just for that alone its worth every cent paid for. I just wish it had the laser cutter too! :)

I was looking at this watch about a month ago and it was for sale for @$1,200. I went down to the local authorized dealer and got the watch for $1,500 + $91.00 tax. I do have to say that the Amazon seller has a 1 year better warranty. The watch keeps very accurate time (not off 1 second compared to three atomic clocks). I prefer the quatz movement, due to the accuracy of same. Watch is heavy, keep that in mind. I like that it is a very nice looking, but not over the top watch.

I've had this watch for about a month now, and have worn it most days. I own a number of chronographs, and this is certainly one of the best.

It uses a Piguet movement which, according to several sources, is unique to this watch these days. (Not sure I believe that - - I think it may be used in Blancpain chronos as well; that's where it was first used) The chronograph start is absolutely smooth, and the reset is very gentle, quite unlike the "thud" of the reset on the Valjoux 7750 series movements.

The accuracy of the movement is exceptional - about 1.5 sec/fast per day over the one month period I've had it. Fit and finish of the case, dial and hands is flawless, and the size of the the watch is just about perfect. My only complaint is that the links in the band are a bit large, so you are not able to make fine adjustments in sizing. Not a significant problem, but something to keep in mind if you're finicky about exact sizing.

I have a lot of watches in all price ranges, and this really is an exceptional value in an everyday wearing sports watch.
